The challenge

PavlodarEnergo, a leading energy company in Kazakhstan, grappled with a critical concern - rampant work accidents that exacted a toll on human lives and operational efficiency. The sheer scope of their workforce made comprehensive surveillance an insurmountable challenge, resulting in accidents that not only cost lives but also led to significant economic losses due to absence leaves.

Our Solution

Arrow Digital engineered an application that harnesses AI and IoT, consequently enabling PavlodarEnergo to preemptively detect worker accidents. A fusion of wearable IoT devices, machine vision, and anomaly detection AI models set the stage for an unprecedented shift in workplace safety. Our solution not only revolutionized accident prevention but also empowered factory safety managers with a bird's-eye view, enabling them to monitor and respond in real-time.

Our Technology

1. We used efficient IoT embedded models coupled with an wearable IMU unit to detect falls and other bodily impacts suffered by PavlodarEnergo’s workers.

2. Arrow Digital empowered the preexisting camera circuit with a machine vision model coupled with an anomaly detection model to detect the usage of masks and hard hats at the workplace, as well as the proximity of the worker to dangerous zones such as live electrical wires.

3. For the digital dashboard we leveraged Angular to create an efficient and responsive solution that our client’s safety managers can use to monitor hundreds of workers in real time, communicate with workers, and more.

4. Last but not least we created an app where workers could respond to distress calls and promptly assist their colleagues in case of accidents, all powered by a proprietary algorithm that ensures help arrives in time.

Key Results

In the first year of operation, our solution was able to detect and prevent dozens of potentially fatal accidents

Our efficient solution cost only a tenth of what PavlodarEnergo was spending with worker safety and job-site monitoring

In the instances where an accident did happen critical aid arrived up to 1 hour faster than it did previously
